The Admiral at the Lake

Located in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, just steps from Lake Michigan, The Admiral at the Lake has served residents for over a century. The goal of the 14,500-square-foot, multi-phase renovation was to breathe new life into aging public spaces—particularly the Waterfront Dining area, adjacent pre-function space, lobby, and key corridors—while elevating the resident experience, supporting staff operations, and embracing the unique character of the surrounding environment. The renovation focused on creating welcoming, functional spaces through strategic, budget-conscious updates that improved acoustics, enhanced organization, and introduced a fresh, timeless aesthetic inspired by nearby Lake Michigan.

1. Dining Transformation: Revitalized the Waterfront Dining area with improved acoustics, panoramic lake views, and flexible seating to encourage community gathering.

2. Pre-Function Reimagined: Added a custom host desk with integrated storage, expanded seating, and better flow, balancing hospitality with operational efficiency.

3. Fresh Finishes & Furnishings: Reused select furniture to maximize budget, introduced brighter finishes including a marble fireplace surround and pops of color in millwork, and drew inspiration from resident-loved artwork to create cohesion and warmth.
